Continuous glucose monitoring (CGM)
Continuous glucose monitoring devices also provide information to guide therapy decisions. But where glucose meters provide "snapshot" readings of a single moment in time, a CGM device gives you a constant view of the day's glucose levels.
This doesn't mean continuous glucose monitoring replaces glucose meter testing. A glucose meter should still be used to confirm CGM readings and calibrate the system properly.
There are two types of CGM devices—real-time CGM and historical CGM—and it's important to understand their differences.
